Chicago Cultural Center
Perkins+Will’s annual internal design competition – a mentorship program led by the firm’s Design Leadership Council—encourages young talent to come up with creative, actionable solutions to real-life design challenges. This year, the challenge is to remediate and revitalize a brownfield site along the Chicago River. The public is invited to witness jurors select the winning entry and be part of a thought-provoking discourse.

McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Eastland Disaster, Friends of the Chicago River commissioned The Suburban Piano Quartet to create an original music composition. The unique piece was composed specifically for performance inside the five-story landmark McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum. Musicians will be on all five stories of the building performing with a choir and filling the bridgehouse with combined electronic and natural sounds.
The Bridgehouse museum is just a few blocks away from where the Eastland capsized. The performance hopes to honor the lives lost and remember how different versions of the Eastland disaster continue to play out to this very day.
Tickets are only $5 and the event is BYOB/P (beverage and picnic).
