Update: Thank you for your interest in Our Great Rivers! This event has reached its maximum capacity for registration.
If you are intersted in receiving a link to the forthcoming Our Great Rivers resource guide (which will include information shared at the workshop and more), or receiving Great Rivers Chicago updates, please add your contact information to this list.
Note: This event has the same program as the sold out February 16th workshop. Please register for only one.
We have heard from many of you about your vision for Chicago’s rivers. Now, it’s time to bring these ideas to life. MPC is hosting a workshop for organizations, groups and individuals who have ideas about activating a stretch of the rivers, and want support in moving your plan forward. This workshop will consist of presentations and case studies that will give you information about placemaking, physical improvements, programming, permitting, grant opportunities and proposal support. The event includes the opportunity to workshop your idea with experts such as architects, engineers, community organization leaders, arts & cultural programming professionals, etc.
In addition, we will be sharing information about Chicago Community Trust’s newly announced Our Great Rivers Fund!
The Trust will fund up to 15 grants for river-adjacent neighborhood projects under this RFP. Grants can range from $25,000-100,000, with the possibility of renewal. Projects can address sustainable development, economic development, human health, and arts and culture, and must align with at least one Our Great Rivers Vision theme: inviting, productive, and living rivers. Staff from Chicago Community Trust will be at the workshop to give more details.
Who is this for
Have great ideas for your riverfront but not sure how to get them moving? This workshop is for you! This includes but is not limited to plans for stewardship, environment, physical improvements, small businesses, arts and cultural programming, health and recreation.
Registration
Please register for the workshop via Eventbrite. You must also fill out this form which will give us more information about you, the site you want to work on and your project idea. We will use this information to match you with an expert whose experience can be helpful to you as you move forward with the planning process. In order to allow us to tailor the event to your specific needs, we ask that you register and complete the form by Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.
