During this meeting, we discussed…

Key Concerns/Challenges:

  • Water quality
  • Effective traffic management of the various types of vessel operating on the rivers
  • Public information as it relates to the rivers- existing public access points, water quality updates, signage for trails along the rivers, etc.

Key Priorities/Opportunities:

  • Increased number of bike and pedestrian bridges throughout the river systems
  • A clean-up of the vegetation along the river systems as well as a clean-up of the rivers (water and sediment) themselves
  • Flooding in neighborhoods

Big Ideas:

  • Kayak companies working as a consortium, which could work similarly to the Chicago CityPASS for the City of Chicago’s attractions
  • Information Kiosks located along Chicago’s rivers, with information such as existing access points, daily water quality reports and existing trails along the river
  • Expand water taxi routes to reach communities that are located farther North/South than the routes’ existing stops
