Key Concerns/Challenges

• Need for riverfront and trails access points, trails maintenance especially after storms
• Safer riverfront access conditions along river’s edge (pavement, lighting, signage)
• Lack of awareness and underutilization of hidden river resources

Key Priorities/Opportunities         

• Pedestrian access via bridges crossing the Des Plaines River
• Additional boat launches with signage
• Restoring habitat and improving natural areas

Big Ideas

• Stream bank stabilization to address flooding, erosion and promote native planting
• Memorialize Native American history through riverfront museum or special exhibits
